Marvel Rivals PC Requirements | Can Your PC Run It?
Marvel Rivals requires at least 16 GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X, and a GeForce GTX 1060, Radeon RX 580, or Intel Arc A380, according to its official PC requirements. It also needs 64-bit Windows, DirectX 12, broadband internet, and a published storage allowance of 70 GB. An SSD is recommended, and the space requested by the current installer should take priority over an older size estimate.
Meeting those specifications answers the first compatibility question. Playing comfortably during a crowded team fight requires a second check: your resolution, graphics settings, frame consistency, and connection. Compare your hardware with the official table, identify any weak component, then use the testing and optimisation steps below to decide whether your existing PC needs a settings change or an upgrade.
Marvel Rivals PC Requirements at a Glance
These are the requirements listed on the official Marvel Rivals Steam page, checked on 26 September 2026. Both tiers specify 16 GB of system memory. The developer recommends an SSD for both configurations.

Choose one processor and one graphics card from the relevant tier; you do not need components from every manufacturer. A suitable Intel CPU can be paired with an AMD graphics card, for example.
What minimum and recommended actually mean
The developer’s release FAQ supplies hardware reference configurations without attaching a specific resolution, preset, or frame-rate target. Therefore, the minimum list is not an official promise of 1080p at 60 FPS, and the recommended list is not a certified 144 FPS configuration.
The NVIDIA recommended entry is written as “RTX 2060 (Super)” by the publisher. That wording should not erase the distinction between the RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 SUPER. Likewise, the GTX 1060 entry does not specify a memory variant. Check the complete model and dedicated memory on your own card rather than treating every version as identical.
The table also does not establish an official 4K or Ultra tier. A PC that exceeds every listed component can still require lower lighting settings or upscaling when asked to render a higher resolution at a high refresh rate.
Windows compatibility and current support
The published Windows 10 requirement is the game’s operating-system floor. It is separate from Microsoft’s support lifecycle. Standard support for Windows 10 ended on 14 October 2025, with extended security arrangements handled separately. For an eligible computer, a supported Windows 11 installation is the more appropriate long-term setup.
Do not downgrade an updated computer to Windows 10 version 1909 because that version appears in the requirement. It identifies the oldest listed baseline, not the preferred version to install today.
Can Your PC Run Marvel Rivals?
Your answer depends on the weakest relevant component, not an average of the whole machine. A powerful graphics card does not compensate for insufficient system memory, and a recent processor does not supply missing graphics features.
Check your hardware with our tools
Start with the Check Can I Run It checker to review the game’s requirements. If you do not know your specifications, use our Auto Detector for Windows to identify the installed hardware and compare supported game records with your PC.
1. Download the detector from its official page and follow the installation or portable-edition instructions.
2. Search for Marvel Rivals in the application’s catalog and run the hardware scan. If the title is absent from your installed catalog version, compare the detected specifications manually with the table above.
3. Read the CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, Windows, and DirectX results individually. Investigate any component marked Below, Close, or Review.
4. Confirm that a laptop’s dedicated graphics card is the adapter being assessed.
5. Identify the specific shortfall before changing settings or buying hardware.
The detector compares hardware with requirement records; it does not run a match, measure FPS, or optimise the computer automatically. A compatibility result is the starting point for the practical test below.
Find your specifications manually
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and select Performance. Record the full CPU name, installed memory, and each GPU name. On the GPU page, distinguish dedicated GPU memory from shared memory. If two adapters appear, one may be the processor’s integrated graphics while the other is the gaming GPU.
Press Windows + R, enter dxdiag, and inspect the System and Display tabs. These help identify the Windows installation, graphics driver, DirectX version, and reported feature levels. A DirectX 12 label on the System tab alone does not prove that the graphics card supports every feature a particular game uses.
Finally, open File Explorer, select This PC, and check free space on the drive where you intend to install the game. Free space on a different drive will not automatically help an installer targeting a full SSD.
Interpret a shortfall before trying fixes
If you have less than 16 GB of RAM, the PC is below the current official memory minimum. Closing applications may reduce memory pressure, but it does not change that classification. If your graphics hardware lacks required support, reducing texture quality cannot add it.
A system between minimum and recommended is a reasonable candidate for conservative settings and testing. A system that meets recommended should still be tested at the intended resolution. Owners of unfamiliar CPUs should compare the exact model rather than relying on labels such as Core i7 or Ryzen 7, which span many generations.
How Much Storage Does Marvel Rivals Need?
The official specification remains 70 GB of available space, but that is not a reliable measurement of every current installation. Download size, installed size, optional content, and temporary patch space are different quantities. A compressed download can expand during installation, while an update may need room to rebuild existing files.
The August 2026 patch notes describe a texture compression change expected to reduce the PC installation footprint by approximately 30%. That percentage describes a reduction from the previous installation; it does not establish a new fixed requirement of 49 GB or guarantee that every installation occupies the same space.
Check the launcher’s current space estimate before downloading. After installation, use the launcher’s storage view to see the actual footprint. Leave additional free capacity for updates rather than filling the drive to its limit. The exact spare amount depends on the patch and installed content, so a universal extra-gigabyte figure would be misleading.
Do you need the high-resolution pack?
The optional Marvel Rivals High-Resolution Pack adds higher-detail visual assets. Its official listing recommends it for systems with sufficient storage and mid-to-high-end graphics hardware. It does not unlock heroes, combat features, or other gameplay content.
Begin with the base installation if your main goal is stable competitive performance, your SSD is nearly full, or your graphics memory is limited. Test the pack separately if image detail matters to you. More detailed assets should be treated as an optional graphics choice, not a prerequisite for playing the complete game.
SSD versus HDD
An SSD reduces the time needed to access stored data compared with a mechanical hard drive. That can help with loading and asset delivery, which is why the developer recommends one. However, it does not make the GPU render lighting faster or remove a CPU bottleneck.
If your game is already on a healthy SSD, replacing it with a faster premium model should not be your first response to low FPS. If you are still using an HDD and struggle with loading, an SSD addresses a more relevant limitation. Check available SATA or M.2 connections before buying; the connector and supported drive protocol must match.
What Performance Should You Target?
Choose a target based on your monitor and the frame rate your PC can sustain during combat. A high peak in the practice area is less useful than predictable movement and aiming when multiple abilities fill the screen.
FPS means frames per second. Frame time measures how long each frame takes to produce. The relationship is 1,000 divided by FPS, expressed in milliseconds. These are mathematical targets, not measured Marvel Rivals benchmark results.
| Frame-rate target | Frame-time budget |
|---|---|
| 60 FPS | 16.67 ms |
| 120 FPS | 8.33 ms |
| 144 FPS | 6.94 ms |
| 165 FPS | 6.06 ms |
| 240 FPS | 4.17 ms |
Moving from 60 to 120 FPS halves the time available to produce each frame. Moving to 240 FPS halves it again. That explains why a PC can feel comfortable at 60 FPS yet struggle to maintain a high-refresh target, even at the same resolution.
Averages also hide interruptions. A sequence of fast frames followed by one long pause can produce an acceptable average while still feeling jerky. When a performance tool reports 1% lows, it is summarising the slower portion of the run; definitions vary, so compare results produced by the same tool and method.
Run a useful performance check
Marvel Rivals includes a performance test tool. The August 2025 update added graphics-setting recommendations based on its results. Use those recommendations as an initial configuration, then confirm them during play.
1. Update the game, record your graphics driver version, and allow background shader preparation to finish.
2. Record the CPU, GPU, RAM, Windows version, game version, display resolution, preset, upscaling mode, and frame-generation state.
3. Run the built-in test with frame generation disabled so you can assess the underlying rendered frame rate.
4. Play a practice session, followed by several normal matches. Include busy fights and the modes you actually intend to play.
5. Note sustained FPS, visible pauses, GPU load, memory use, and whether the problem worsens as the computer warms up.
6. Change one setting group, repeat the test, and keep the change only if its benefit is useful and the image remains readable.
Keep a short record such as “1080p, Low, Quality upscaling, frame generation off.” Without those conditions, a screenshot showing an FPS number cannot explain whether another PC will perform similarly. Driver changes and game patches also make older comparisons less dependable.
How to Optimise Marvel Rivals Settings
The settings below are an editorial starting point for a system near the minimum requirements. They are not a measured best-settings preset or a guarantee of a particular frame rate. Start conservatively, establish stability, and restore visual detail where your PC has room.
| Setting | Initial Choice |
|---|---|
| Output resolution | 1920 × 1080, if supported |
| Global illumination | Off |
| Reflections | Off or lowest available |
| Shadows | Low |
| Effects | Low |
| Post-processing | Low |
| Textures | Low initially |
| Upscaling | Quality, if available |
| Frame generation | Off for baseline testing |
| Frame-rate limit | Sustainable target |
Reduce expensive effects before sacrificing visibility
Global illumination simulates how light spreads and bounces through a scene. Reflections reproduce visible surroundings on reflective surfaces. Both add rendering work. The developer introduced an Off option for global illumination in the January 2025 patch, so older guides that insist on a particular lighting mode may omit a useful option.
Lower lighting, reflections, shadows, and effects first when the GPU is struggling. Compare an ordinary corridor with a crowded fight; a setting that looks inexpensive in a quiet scene may behave differently when abilities overlap.
After stabilising performance, raise textures one step and check graphics-memory use and image clarity. Texture detail and lighting complexity are different controls. Lowering textures can help a memory shortage, but it may do little for average FPS when the graphics card already has enough memory.
Use upscaling without confusing it with resolution
Upscaling renders an image internally at a lower resolution, then reconstructs it for the display. Marvel Rivals supports NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS, as documented in the official launch announcement. Available options depend on your graphics hardware and current game build.
Start with a Quality setting where available. If the GPU remains the limiting component, try a more performance-focused setting and inspect moving targets, thin edges, and distant detail. An image that looks acceptable while standing still can become less clear during fast movement.
Upscaling normally helps most when rendering workload limits performance. If the processor is already limiting how quickly frames are prepared, reducing internal resolution may produce little improvement. In that situation, pushing the upscaler harder can reduce clarity without solving the actual problem.
DLSS model presets are a separate choice
Marvel Rivals added DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and model-preset options in the June 2026 update. The developer describes its Performance model preset as using a traditional CNN model and its Quality model preset as using a second-generation Transformer model.
These model choices concern the reconstruction method. They should not be confused with the familiar Quality, Balanced, or Performance choices that control the internal rendering resolution. When comparing configurations, write down both settings if the menu exposes both.
On a supported GeForce RTX system, compare the available model presets using the same resolution and scene. Select the combination that produces acceptable clarity and stable performance on your card. The newer model name alone is not enough to choose the best configuration for every GPU.
Frame generation, Reflex, and responsiveness
Frame generation inserts additional images between rendered frames. It can make motion appear smoother and raise the displayed FPS counter, but those inserted images are not equivalent to new game-simulation updates responding to fresh input.
For competitive play, establish a satisfactory base frame rate first. Then compare frame generation on and off while aiming and tracking moving opponents. Judge response and visual artefacts alongside the counter. Feature availability differs by GPU generation, so an option seen in a video may not appear on your own system.
NVIDIA documents DLSS and Reflex support in Marvel Rivals. Reflex addresses local PC latency by coordinating rendering work. Where supported, it is worth testing for responsiveness, but it cannot reduce the distance to the server or repair packet loss.
Cap FPS and check your display refresh rate
An unlimited frame rate can keep the GPU fully occupied even when the extra frames are not useful for your chosen experience. A sustainable cap may reduce heat, noise, and swings in frame delivery. Compare capped and uncapped behaviour rather than assuming the highest counter is always the best result.
In Windows display settings, confirm that the monitor is using its intended refresh rate. A 144 Hz display configured at 60 Hz will not show 144 complete refreshes per second. If you use variable refresh rate, follow the monitor and graphics-driver guidance for its supported range and synchronisation settings.
Let shader preparation finish
Shaders are programs the graphics processor uses to render parts of the image. Preparing them can create work before or during gameplay. Marvel Rivals changed its shader process in August 2025: essential global shaders began preloading in the background after installation or updates, replacing the mandatory first-launch wait.
The developer warns that entering a match before that preparation finishes can cause performance problems. Check the current launcher or game status after an update instead of immediately assuming that newly observed stutter means your PC has become too weak. Old screenshots of shader options may no longer match the current interface.
How Much RAM and VRAM Do You Need?
System RAM and graphics memory serve different purposes. RAM holds active data used by Windows and applications. Dedicated VRAM is memory on the graphics card used for resources such as textures and rendering buffers. Adding one does not directly increase the other.
Is 16 GB enough, or should you use 32 GB?
Sixteen gigabytes meets both official RAM tiers. That does not mean the entire capacity is available to the game: Windows, a browser, voice chat, recording software, and other applications also use memory.
If you already have 16 GB, first test with unnecessary applications closed. Watch whether memory pressure and pauses appear together. A 32 GB upgrade is a practical option for a computer that regularly runs several applications while gaming, but it is not an official Marvel Rivals requirement or a guaranteed FPS boost.
Leave Windows virtual memory enabled unless a documented troubleshooting procedure requires otherwise. The page file helps manage memory demand using storage, but storage access is much slower than RAM. Increasing a page-file limit should not be presented as a substitute for reaching the physical-memory minimum.
Why VRAM capacity alone cannot rank graphics cards
Two cards with the same memory capacity can have very different processing power and memory bandwidth. Similarly, a GPU with more VRAM is not automatically faster than one with less. Evaluate the exact GPU model, its memory configuration, and performance evidence under comparable conditions.
Do not add dedicated and shared GPU memory and call the result dedicated VRAM. Shared memory is borrowed from system RAM and has different access characteristics. An integrated GPU reporting access to several gigabytes of shared memory is not thereby equivalent to a discrete graphics card with that much onboard memory.
If increasing texture detail or installing the high-resolution pack causes new pauses, return to the previous configuration and retest. That comparison is more informative than buying a graphics card purely because a monitoring screen shows a large allocated-memory figure.
Can a Gaming Laptop Run Marvel Rivals?
A gaming laptop can be suitable, but desktop requirement names need careful interpretation. Mobile GPUs with similar names can operate at different power limits, and the laptop’s cooling system affects how long it can sustain its performance.
Test while connected to the appropriate charger, with the laptop manufacturer’s gaming or performance profile selected. Keep vents clear and use a firm surface. A machine that starts quickly but slows after several matches may be reducing clock speeds as temperatures rise.
The official laptop optimisation guide recommends discrete-graphics direct mode where supported, suitable performance settings, cooling, and a frame-rate limit. Direct mode allows the dedicated GPU to drive the display more directly, but the available controls depend on the laptop model.
Also check Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics and assign the game to the high-performance GPU. Having a dedicated GPU installed does not help if the game is actually using the integrated adapter. Recheck performance after correcting the selection before judging the laptop against a desktop benchmark.
Which Components Should You Upgrade First?
Upgrade the component that explains the problem you measured. A blanket recommendation to replace the CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage can cost more than necessary while leaving the original cause unresolved.
Below 16 GB: address system memory
If the machine has only 8 GB, reaching 16 GB removes a clear official requirement shortfall. Before buying, check the motherboard or laptop service information for memory generation, supported capacity, available slots, and whether any memory is soldered.
Use a compatible configuration recommended by the system manufacturer. Desktop DIMMs and laptop SO-DIMMs differ, and DDR4 and DDR5 cannot be substituted for each other. A matched kit can simplify compatibility, but its speed must still be supported by the platform.
High GPU load: consider graphics performance
If lowering resolution substantially improves FPS and the GPU is heavily loaded, graphics performance is a likely constraint. First, use the settings and upscaling options already available. If those compromises make targets too difficult to see, a GPU upgrade becomes a more useful consideration.
Choose using recent Marvel Rivals tests that match your resolution and desired settings, including frame-generation state. Before installing a desktop card, check case clearance, power-supply capacity, required power connectors, and ventilation. More VRAM can help with heavier assets, but it should accompany enough rendering performance for your target.
Little benefit from lower resolution: investigate the CPU
If dropping resolution barely changes FPS, the processor, memory subsystem, an FPS cap, or another limitation may be controlling the result. Low GPU utilisation alone does not prove that you need a new CPU.
Check frame caps, temperatures, background tasks, and CPU activity first. One heavily loaded thread can limit a game even when overall CPU usage appears moderate. If repeated tests point to the processor, verify motherboard socket, chipset support, BIOS compatibility, cooling, and memory requirements before choosing an upgrade.
Slow loading: prioritise storage
An SSD is the relevant first upgrade when a compatible PC is still loading the game from an HDD. Use the launcher’s supported move or reinstall function, confirm the new installation path, and retest loading separately from FPS.
Three common cases show why the order matters. An 8 GB system has a memory shortfall to address. A 16 GB system with acceptable FPS but slow HDD loading has a storage issue to investigate. A 32 GB system with poor GPU-limited performance is unlikely to benefit from doubling RAM again.
What Kind of Game Is Marvel Rivals?
Marvel Rivals is NetEase’s free-to-play team-based superhero shooter. Its core matches use a third-person view and 6v6 teams, with characters filling Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist roles. Team-Up abilities and destructible environments change how fights develop.
That structure matters when checking performance. Several heroes can activate effects in the same area while the environment changes around them. The workload during a quiet practice session therefore does not represent every combat situation. Test the modes you play, because larger modes and different maps can impose different demands.
The free-to-play model also makes a direct test useful: once your hardware clears the basic compatibility checks, you can evaluate the current game on your own PC without buying the base game. Optional purchases do not provide a hardware-performance upgrade.
Fix Low FPS, Stuttering, Crashes, and Connection Problems
Identify the symptom before applying a fix. Constantly low FPS, occasional pauses, application crashes, and network interruptions can look similar during a fight but come from different causes.
DirectX 12 not supported
The official technical FAQ advises checking Windows updates, the graphics driver, and whether the GPU meets the requirements. Install the correct driver for the actual GPU and confirm that Windows is not using a basic or unintended display adapter.
If the hardware lacks the necessary support, a launch argument or downloaded DLL cannot turn it into a supported GPU. Avoid treating unofficial DirectX workarounds as an equivalent replacement for compatible hardware.
Stuttering after an update
First, allow shader preparation to finish and restart the game after the update completes. Repeat the same test with the same settings. Check that a patch has not reset a graphics option, changed the selected upscaler, or enabled content you were not using before.
Next, check memory pressure, background downloads, temperatures, and whether the game is on the intended drive. Change one factor at a time. Deleting caches repeatedly can force preparation to happen again, making it harder to tell whether the original problem has improved.
Crashes or an out-of-video-memory message
Verify installed files using the launcher, then review driver changes and remove unstable overclocks from the test configuration. Record the exact error rather than assuming every crash is a shortage of graphics memory.
For affected 13th- or 14th-generation Intel systems, the developer specifically directs users with an out-of-video-memory startup crash to the latest BIOS guidance from Intel or the motherboard manufacturer. Follow the instructions for the exact system model; this is a targeted troubleshooting path, not a universal FPS tweak.
If crashes continue, provide support with the error, game build, driver version, hardware details, and reproduction steps. “Crashes after ten minutes on one map” is more useful than “the game is broken.”
High ping and packet loss
Ping measures communication delay between your PC and the server. Packet loss means some transmitted data fails to arrive. Neither is the same as the time your GPU takes to draw a frame.
If the FPS counter stays steady while players jump position or actions register late, investigate the connection. Try Ethernet, stop competing downloads, compare suitable server regions, and check official maintenance notices. A faster graphics card will not shorten the network route.
Download bandwidth is also not a guarantee of low latency. A stable connection with less bandwidth can perform better for a match than a faster service suffering from congestion or unreliable Wi-Fi. Judge the connection by stability, delay, and loss during play rather than an advertised Mbps figure alone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the requirements include recording or streaming?
The official table does not specify a simultaneous recording or streaming workload. Capture software adds work and can use system memory, GPU resources, or CPU time depending on its settings.
Compare the same gameplay configuration with capture disabled and enabled before deciding whether the game or the recording setup needs adjustment.
Is a GTX 1650 officially listed as supported?
No. The official minimum NVIDIA reference is the GTX 1060. A newer model number does not automatically mean a higher performance tier.
Assess the exact GTX 1650 desktop or laptop variant using comparable tests rather than declaring it equivalent from the name alone.
Can integrated graphics run the game?
The official GPU list names discrete graphics cards. Integrated GPUs vary widely, so there is no dependable blanket answer.
Check the precise graphics model, graphics-feature support, system-memory arrangement, and current game performance. Shared memory capacity alone cannot establish compatibility.
Do you need an RTX graphics card or ray tracing?
An RTX card is not an official minimum requirement: the published list includes GTX, Radeon, and Intel Arc alternatives.
RTX-specific features are optional capabilities of compatible hardware. You can pursue lower lighting settings without buying a card solely for a feature label.
Can you play Marvel Rivals without internet?
Marvel Rivals requires an internet connection for its online service. Installing the files does not create an offline version of its multiplayer matches.
If the game stops connecting during announced server maintenance, local graphics changes will not restore access; wait for service to resume.
Are PC requirements the same as console requirements?
No. Console performance modes are designed for fixed hardware and a separate platform build.
A console’s frame-rate mode does not establish what a similarly described Windows PC will achieve. Use Windows requirements and PC tests for a desktop or laptop decision.
